2024 Annual Meeting

The 2024 Southwest Drought Learning Network annual meeting was held on October 22-23. This year the annual meeting was held completely virtual to allow for more people to have the opportunity to attend. One of the main goals for this year’s meeting was to bring more resource managers to the table and find out what their needs are. Other important attendees included DLN members, Tribes, nonprofits, ranchers, and others interested in drought and the DLN. Topics covered during the meeting were the making of the U.S. Drought Monitor, ENSO forecasts, Tribal collaborations, a State Climatologist panel, and group breakouts that discussed needs in the region and prioritized DLN activities for the next year.

The DLN teams for 2025 can be found here (please note the page will be updated with new activities for 2025 soon) . If you are interested in joining a team, please reach out to one of the leadership team leads listed on the webpage or Tonya Bernadt at tbernadt5@unl.edu.

2023 Annual Meeting

The DLN 2023 annual meeting was held on September 27-28, 2023 at the Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute in Albuquerque. The overarching goal of the meeting was to bring together resource managers, Southwest Drought Learning Network (DLN) members, Tribes, and others interested in drought to engage in peer-to-peer learning related to past drought experiences and lessons learned. As a result of the needs in the area one DLN team dissolved (Projections to People) and a new team was formed to focus on Forests. The DLN teams for 2024 can be found here. If you are interested in working on a team please reach out to one of the leadership team leads or Tonya Bernadt. The final agenda for the program and video links can be found below.
